HATCHES

When it comes to fly fishing, it perhaps goes without saying that fly selection and technique should be matched to current hatch conditions.  Of course, as with any rule, there are many exceptions to this rule, and the use of streamers and terrestrials comes to mind.  In general, however, most fly fisherman, and probably all fishermen using dry flies, are interested in finding out what types of flies will catch the most fish at a particular time.  Of course fishermen should be familiar with the hatch chart , but they should also pay close attention to the flies they see on the water.  During big hatches, like the Hex, this kind of observation will not be necessary, but at other times fly selection may be a bit more subtle.  If you’re not sure what the trout are hitting on, give us a call at Trophy Waters.  We may not be one hundred percent sure, either, but chances are we can give you a few honest suggestions.
